Having owed a PS3 and 2 360s for the last 18 months or so, I can honestly state that this is a major improvement on the orginal PS3.
I'm not going to get into a huge technical dissertation or a software argument since that will be easily covered amongst many other posts.
Bottomline: I like both the 360 and the PS3, but I like the PS3 as a media center better because I find it more expandable and adaptive to my needs. Previously my PS3, while I like it, was relatively loud (about the same as my 360, maybe a bit less) and very hot.
The new one I received yesterday takes care of those problems and it's considerably smaller.
I'm selling my original PS3 because I personally don't need the backwards compatibility, and this new version is a vast improvement over the flaws of the original box. Get more detail about PlayStation 3 120 GB.
